Clearwater’s Roger D’Aquino – and his daughter, Stephanie D’Aquino – participated in the 11th Annual Great Newburgh to Beacon Hudson River Swim over the weekend. This year’s mile-long swim across the Hudson from Torches in Newburgh to Beacon was dedicated to Clearwater founder, Pete Seeger. The event is a fundraiser for the River Pool, a floating pool set up at the shore of Riverfront Park each summer. Last year, D’Aquino joined two long-time friends in making the swim in honor of Marie Sayre Cole, who had completed the Hudson River Swim each of the previous nine years, but was temporarily beached as she was recovering from the effects of chemotherapy. “This year,” reports D’Aquino, who is Clearwater’s finance director, “Marie finished the swim ahead of us. She was in the top ten finishers.” Roger, who was making his ninth swim, is pictured alongside his daughter, who was making her first, and Cole.
