On Thursday, July 16, at 7:00PM, Dr. Stephen Uzzo will speak about “The Extended Brain: How Doing Makes Us Smarter,” at Beacon Institute’s Center for Environmental Innovation and Education, located at 199 Dennings Avenue in Beacon.Uzzo is the New York Hall of Science’s vice-president of Science and Technology. He will explore how new models for thinking, based on emerging understanding of the brain,are revolutionizing learning through hands-on science museums, the “maker movement” and “high-tech play. The New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) is a partner with Clarkson University and Beacon Institute, along with Clearwater, on development and operation of a new center for learning about the Hudson River estuary that will be located in Hudson River Park on Pier 26 in New York City; Dr. Uzzo is responsible for creating exhibits at the center.
