Sloop to Visit 6 River Cities in October
Clearwater is excited to announce the return of Pumpkin Sail to the Hudson Valley with dockside events taking place through the month of October. The public is invited to join Clearwater at several Hudson River waterfronts for a celebration of harvest time and a tribute to the river communities that includes food, music, history, storytelling, Hudson River wildlife and pumpkin related activities.
The sloop Clearwater will be docked at each Pumpkin Sail venue offering deck tours and dockside programs for the community, free of charge.
Public Sails are available in the afternoons during Pumpkin Sail. Onboard the sloop Clearwater, participants can join in raising the sail, learn about Hudson River life and history, and enjoy music provided by the crew. Public Sails last 2 hours and are $35 for members, $50 for non-members, and $15 for children 12 and under. Visit www.clearwater.org for sail information and to make your reservation for a Public Sail.
Our Hudson’s Barge Tour 2011 will launch its traveling exhibition scheduled to tour the Hudson Valley this fall visiting several Hudson rivertowns. Pennsylvania Railroad Barge # 399, an artifact of a lost industrial era, has been remade as a floating town hall, exhibition space, and movie theater. The public is invited to tour the barge exhibition to see how citizens of the Hudson Valley envision restoring economic vitality to our riverfront towns, while improving the health of the river and protecting our valley’s world-renowned scenic beauty. To view the entire Pennsy 399 schedule, please visit http://media.ourhudson.org/barge-tour-schedule/
Clearwater is proud to support Our Hudson’s Barge Tour 2011 and will welcome the barge Pennsy 399 at two of the Pumpkin Sail venues – on October 2 in Poughkeepsie, NY, and on October 10 in Hudson, NY.
