For the past 32 years Crafts at Lyndhurst has brought 300 outstanding American artists and craftspeople to the Hudson Valley to showcase and sell their highly skilled and unique works. This year Hudson River Sloop Clearwater will be partnering with the craft festival to highlight their joint commitments to the Hudson Valley’s culture and environment and to raise funds for the Clearwater and Lyndhurst.
The festival is held semi-annually and is a major fundraiser for Lyndhurst, the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s flagship property. This September a special raffle will include a chance to win a sail on the majestic sloop Clearwater.
Festival-goers can meet talented emerging and seasoned artists and purchase their latest one-of-a-kind works; dance to live music by Billboard chart toppers The Lindsey Webster Band; watch and participate in fiber, pottery and canoe carving craft demonstrations; enjoy a smorgasbord of tantalizing foods for lunch and for a snack visit the gourmet specialties section for scrumptious hand-crafted delights; and entertain the kids with a variety of children’s activities including face painting, storytelling, balloon animals, stilt walkers and more!
Lyndhurst is an outstanding example of 19th century architecture and landscape design including a magnificent mansion museum (with on-going tours); fabulous carriage house; one of America’s first bowling alleys (newly restored); sweeping lawns accented with shrubs and specimen trees (some that are found only on this property) as well as a thriving rose garden and the nation’s first steel-framed green-house conservatory. Lyndhurst is part of Westchester’s RiverWalk which spans 14 municipalities and is a part of the Hudson River Valley Greenway.www.Lyndhurst.org
