Hudson River Sloop Clearwater and students from Arlington High School’s “Going Green” program will demonstrate their Rain Barrel Give-Away Project at the “Going Green Expo,” taking place Friday evening, May 27, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 PM.

As part of the program, “Going Green” students have built 10 rain barrels that will be donated to businesses and home owners in Poughkeepsie, NY. Students will also inform the public about how rain barrels and other green infrastructure practices can be used to reduce stormwater runoff and prevent Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) events in the City of Poughkeepsie.
The Going Green Expo will feature presentations by Arlington High School students on a variety of Green innovations, such re-usable household crafts, phone and bottle recycling, energy and money-saving tips, a demonstration of how solar panels and wind turbines work, and host other activities that relate to recycling, local food, and water conservation. In addition, attendees will have a chance to see the new Chevy Volt plug-in electric car.

This event is open to the public.  The cost is $3.00 per person or a maximum of $5.00 per family.
