Legendary Restaurateur Drew Nieporent will Headline Chefs for Clearwater Event at the CIA
Chefs for Clearwater is pleased to announce that Drew Nieporent will be the Special Guest and Honoree at the fourth annual Chefs for Clearwater culinary event—this year in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Sloop Clearwater’s maiden voyage and the 100th anniversary of Pete Seeger’s birth.
One of America’s most respected and celebrated restaurateurs, Nieporent is the founder of the Myriad Restaurant Group which operates a roster of highly regarded eateries, including Tribeca Grill, Nobu Downtown, Nobu Fifty Seven and Bâtard. Nieporent’s first restaurant, Montrachet (1985), earned three stars from The New York Times and kept that rating for 21 years. Nobu NYC and Bâtard were voted Best New Restaurant in America by The James Beard Foundation in 1995 and 2015, respectively, and Tribeca Grill is a regular winner of Wine Spectator’s Grand Award. Earlier this year, Nieporent was honored as a “Master of Hospitality” by The Culinary Institute of America at its annual Leadership Awards event benefiting CIA student scholarships.
Chefs for Clearwater 2019, to be held on September 14 at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, will be hosted by Chef Waldy Malouf, Senior Director of Food and Beverage Operations at the CIA, and Glenn Vogt, Owner/Managing Partner of RiverMarket Bar and Kitchen in Tarrytown, NY. Singer/songwriter Tom Chapin is scheduled to return as Master of Ceremonies, along with auctioneer Nicho Lowry of the PBS Series Antiques Roadshow; Kevin Zraly, wine educator and founder of Windows on the World Wine School; and Emilio Ugarte of RiverMarket, two-time winner of Westchester Magazine’s annual Bartender Shakeoff.
