It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the sloop’s naval architect Cyrus Hamlin. During the planning and design phase, Cy became a good friend of Pete’s. Throughout the years, he remained a good friend to the organization.
Cy faced many challenges in designing Clearwater. But ultimately, he was able to produce a sloop that met all US Coast Guard regulations to carry passengers for hire, and yet would not have looked out of place sailing on the Hudson in the mid-1800s. Our deepest condolences go out to all his family.
