NEW YORK, NY-Hudson River Sloop Clearwater will be honored for its work in preserving the Hudson River at the New York State Bar Association’s annual meeting January 29 in Manhattan.
The Environmental Law Section award, given out each year since 1981, was announced by attorney Barry R. Kogut, who is with the firm of Bond, Schoeneck & King and chaired the awards committee.
In a letter to Clearwater’s executive director Peter A. Gross, Kogut said he has personally sailed aboard the Clearwater twice in connection with his service with the Bar Association. “The experience of sailing on the Clearwater provides you with a passion for preserving a waterway that is rich from both a historical and an environmental perspective.”
The award is meant to help draw further attention to the work the Clearwater organization does to educate, celebrate and protect the Hudson River, Kogut said.
The NY Bar Association’s annual meeting will take place from January 26-30 at the New York Hilton Hotel. The Environmental Law Section business meeting where the award will be presented to Clearwater starts at 6:00 PM on Thursday, January 29th.
