Our Hudson Tomorrow: Vision for the Future of the Hudson River
The membership of Hudson River Sloop Clearwater will gather in September for the 2011 Annual Meeting to elect new board members and enjoy inspiring speakers and musical performances. The gathering will take place Saturday, September 17, 2011, from 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM at the Clearwater offices located at 724 Wolcott Avenue in Beacon, NY (former University Settlement Camp).
Clay Hiles, Director of Hudson River Foundation will provide the keynote, “A Vision for the Future of the Hudson River,” Hiles is the Executive Director of the Hudson River Foundation, advisory board member with Our Hudson Tomorrow, past board president of Clearwater, and will present and encourage dialog about the future of the Hudson River and Clearwater’s role in creating a Kingston Home Port as a nexus for the river’s maritime history and center for the next generation of environmental leaders. The presentation will include a screening of Our Hudson Tomorrow’s documentary on the future of the Hudson River, featuring Clearwater programs.
The 2011 Annual Meeting will also include musical performances by Linda Richards and Walkabout Clearwater Chorus.
The Annual Meeting is an important event and provides Clearwater members with the opportunity to participate in the vital function of electing board candidates into office. Clearwater board members play key creative roles in fundraising, event planning, program development, financial management, public relations, and project management, and serve as spokespersons and ambassadors for Clearwater.
