On Saturday, November 16, 4:00 – 8:00PM, join Clearwater for a “Welcome Back Open Jam” as we begin our second winter season at the Kingston Home Port and Education Center
Bring an instrument, bring your voice ...
… bring music to welcome sloop Clearwater back!
Musicians Unite! Whether you are a professional entertainer or a seasoned shower singer, join us in a musical welcome for the sloop Clearwater as she returns to the Kingston Home Port. Every 4th song will be a children’s song to engage and delight the next generation of musicians and activists. Child musicians welcome.
Enjoy hot cider, cider donuts, and Stone Soup: A long time Clearwater tradition, Stone Soup fills the belly and warms the soul. Everyone lends a hand to make this soup. Why is it called Stone Soup? How do you make it? Join us on November 16 and find out. Bring a vegetable to share. This is a great activity for the kids!
Note: While our Stone Soup won’t be made over an open fire, there will be a contained fire for marshmallow roasting!
Deck Tours: Come visit the sloop as she settles into her winter home port on the Rondout in Kingston. Meet Captain Nick, Captain Beth and Captain Annika and learn about the maintenance projects scheduled for this winter. Visit the lovely replica vessel, the 106′ Hudson River sloop Clearwater and see her up close; it’s an experience you’ll never forget!
Life Ring Raffle: Since the mid-1850s, when life rings became a maritime safety requirement, the lifebuoy/ring buoy/life ring/lifesaver/life preserver/lifebelt/kisby ring/perry buoy is a little piece of time. A souvenir, certainly, and especially when emblazoned with our sloop’s name, “Clearwater”. Those attending this event are invited to participate in a raffle where said life ring is the prize! $5 per raffle ticket.
