On Tuesday, December 3, help Clearwater in its mission to ensure a sustainable future now, and for future generations.
#GivingTuesday is part of an international call to action to celebrate and support non-profits. It’s an organizing principle to encourage the creativity and energy of people all over the world to work together for good. #GivingTuesday is also an opportunity for you to support Clearwater’s important work and give in a meaningful way this Holiday Season.
Clearwater works to teach our children how to care for our earth and to stand up for the health of our communities and the future of the river. With your #GivingTuesday donation, you ensure that thousands of children continue to experience environmental education and youth empowerment programs onboard the historic sloop Clearwater and in our Tideline and classroom programs.
Clearwater also works to educate our communities about sustainable development, environmental justice, health and safety issues, and advocacy efforts. Your donation also supports the idea that we are all one great community working together to create a sustainable future for ourselves, and for the planet.
The success of #GivingTuesday depends on our collective effort. You don’t have to be a world leader or a billionaire to give back. #GivingTuesday is about ordinary people coming together doing extraordinary things.

Where did #GivingTuesday come from? Giving Tuesday is the brainchild of the 92nd Street Y, a nonprofit cultural and community center in New York City. The retail industry has long benefited from seasonal shopping that symbolically kicks off with “Black Friday” – a day that has since inspired “Small Business Saturday” and “Cyber Monday.” #GivingTuesday, serves as a celebratory, fully connected day to kick off the giving season, when many make their holiday and end-of-year charitable gifts.
#GivingTuesday celebrates giving and by continuing a conversation about ways to give more, give smarter, and put personal philanthropy back into the giving season. #GivingTuesday also brings together diverse networks of people, large corporations, small businesses and nonprofits to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness in the service of changing our world for the better.
