Conference and Dialogue on Water Resources and the Regional Economy
December 13th, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
SUNY New Paltz, Student Union Building
Sponsored by: The NYSDEC Hudson River Estuary Program with SUNY New Paltz Center for Research, Regional Education and Outreach (CRREO), NYS Water Resources Institute at Cornell University, Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation, Historic Hudson River Towns, Audubon, Clearwater, Riverkeeper, Scenic Hudson, The Nature Conservancy and others.
The conference will seek to create a shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities confronting the Hudson Valley as we manage our water resources. It will foster a dialog among the many partners whose engagement can help us move forward in a positive direction for the benefit of the region, its watershed and its people. We will look for opportunities to both support the economy and conserve the environment, recognizing the many ways that water contributes to human well-being.
The conference will focus on two key questions:
1. How can our water assets and infrastructure be part of our strategy for economic prosperity and quality of life in the Valley?
2. What actions do we need to take to safeguard our unique water assets so they are sustained and not depleted?
