Hosted by Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, City of Beacon, and Sargent-Downing Gardens and Nursery
The public is invited to join project partners Clearwater, Sargent-Downing Gardens and Nursery, and the City of Beacon for a community Arbor Day event that will take place from 3:30 – 6:30 PM on Friday, April 26, at the former University Settlement Camp located at 724 Wolcott Ave., Beacon, NY. The event will feature tree planting, Native American tree blessing, a tree whispering activity, music, and refreshments. Honorable Mayor Randy Casale will read the Arbor Day Proclamation. Richie Cabo of Sargent-Downing Gardens and Nursery will present on the “Historic Propagation Project”. Jeff Rumpf, Clearwater Executive Director, will present the two new trees donated by Clearwater for the “Namesake Project” and named in honor of Pete Seeger and his wife Toshi.
Clearwater is participating in this Arbor Day celebration as part of an ongoing grant from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
