Come away into the ethereal realms and otherworldy sounds of ‘Seeds Under Nuclear Winter–An Earth Opera: SANCTUARY EDITION—a recreation of dreams and visions through live world and sacred music, performance art, and light experiments. A POP-UP immersive theater experience offered for ONE NIGHT ONLY at the Old Dutch Church/aka ‘The Cathedral of Kingston’, this performance is a special adaptation of the EARTH OPERA specifically created for the beautiful sanctuary space of the church.
Featuring a full 2024 opera cast of Hudson Valley musicians, dancers, and performance artists including Andes Manta, Mamalama, Melora Creager (of Rasputina), Lisa B Kelley, Jaguar Mary X, Sarah Power, Annie Roland, Arianna Noble, Jed Zaeb, Noa Graham, Alvaro Romao, Andrew Forbes, Megan Gugliotta, Philip x Levine, Matt Carvin, Henry Lowengard, AnnMarie Tedeschi, Jesse Reed, Antonin Fajt, Nobuo, Agon Mizelle, Dorcinda Knauth, Rusty Boris, Erin the Bard, Douglas Keller, Vincenza Dante, Jeremy Starpoli, and live visuals/laser light projections throughout the cathedral space by light artist BA Miale.
Created/composed by Elizabeth Clark during a four-year residency at Byrdcliffe Artists Colony (Woodstock), the ‘Earth Opera’ takes place in a post-apocalyptic atmosphere and centers on finding light in the dark, and on our deep connection with all living things, our planet, and with each other. This performance will be an adaptation of the full-length opera, specially created for the Sanctuary space and integrating the giant wall of pipe organ (which contains 2,221 pipes.)
