Down by the Riverside Is Where It’s At for the 47th Annual NJ Clearwater Festival August 6 and 7 on the banks of the Navesink River in Red Bank
Bring a chair or a blanket as your riverside seat for live music and much more at the FREE 47th Annual Clearwater Festival August 6 and 7 at Riverside Gardens Park in Red Bank, 11 to 7 Saturday and 11 to 5 Sunday.
This annual celebration of music and the environment returns live, after two years of virtual online Festivals, with lots of music on two stages; free sailboat rides; a Roundtable discussion of the plight of at-risk children & adults living in contaminated environs; tutorials by experts on New Jersey’s and the USA’s thwarted efforts to fight climate change; and, information from environmentalists on the many ways you can help protect Mother Earth. We also have a children’s area with live entertainment. We also have a sales booth with commemorative insulated water bottles, tee shirts, bags, and hats.
Near the magnificent arched park entrance, our sponsor Paradiddle Griddle Restaurant [38 W. Front St, Red Bank–Look for our Clearwater Banner!] has an extensive menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Additionally, there will be food trucks like Notorious PIG BBQ, A Taco Affair and Kona Ice will be featured. Other vendors include non-profits, green vendors, crafters, commercial, and a hodge-podge of other items.
Award-winning rock band, Goldenseal, is the latest to join the roster of performers, that includes folksingers, rock, soul and jazz and for the first time the youngsters of the Lakehouse Music Academy.
The Festival’s Main Stage will deliver during the two days a variety of music from folk, rock, soul, to jazz, with performances by Goldenseal, The Wag, Spook Handy, Donna & Rick Nestler, Poppa John Bug, Tyler Eats World, The Strazzacasters, Arlan Feiles, Corvid Corpus, Amanda Duncan, Lakehouse Music Academy, Danny Adler, and more.
The acoustic Boardwalk Stage hosts the Circle of Song and will feature singer/songwriters Ingrid Heldt, The Clarity Project, Lydia Adams Davis, Jan Christensen, Mara Levine with Caroline Cutroneo, Sharleen Leahey & The Cactus Flowers, The Solidarity Singers and more. The COS invites singers attending the Festival to sign up and sing with them, each day.
A special feature this year will be free sailboat rides every hour on ‘Pete’s Banjo.’ The sailboat is named after Pete Seeger’s favorite instrument. Pete mentored and inspired the creation of the Festival’s sponsor, New Jersey Friends of Clearwater (NJFC) in the 1970’s. As President Ed Dlugosz exclaimed, “It’s a beautiful spot to celebrate our environment with music, song, and an exhilarating, wind-in-your-hair sail on the Navesink.
