On November 10th, 2024 at the Howland Cultural Center, we hosted a Chopping Wood Party to celebrate the Pete and Toshi Seeger Legacy Society members and local author David Bernz’s recent release of his book “Chopping Wood: Thoughts and Stories of a Legendary Folksinger.” Music-lovers, Clearwater members new and old, and friends of Pete traveled from as far as Long Island and Albany to gather for an evening of reflection, celebration, and music with apple cider, mulled wine, and cookies donated by The Bakery of New Paltz.
Author David Bernz shared stories from his book, and with his son, Jacob regaled the crowd with songs from Pete Seeger, Woodie Guthrie, and their contemporaries. David and Jacob were often joined in song by their enthusiastic audience. Following the Bernz’s, the Miller Brothers, a music trio out of Newburgh played folk music from the Appalachian Canon as the crowd danced and mingled for the remainder of the evening.
Thank you to our sponsors, LotusWorks Wellness, Daniel Aubry Realty, Beacon Wine and Liquor, The Bakery, WitchHazel: Herbal Apothecary, The Last Outpost Store, and the Howland Cultural Center for sharing their beautiful space.
