In its beginnings, Clearwater had to be incredibly inventive about how to encourage volunteers and raise money to build the sloop Clearwater and to keep it sailing. Hudson Valley Folk Picnics (now our Great Hudson River Revival), as they were called in Clearwater’s nascent stages, were created for this exact purpose- to pass a hat around a concert and ask folks to give whatever they could to support our work- grassroots fundraising at its best!
Fast forward forty plus years: the world has become faster and bigger- not to mention infinitely more important to communicate to an increasingly mobile population. In order to diversify the manner in which we perform outreach and to raise funds to operate Clearwater’s important programs, Clearwater has started a mobile community!
Guided by our unwavering grassroots mentality, we wanted to provide our members and supporters with an easy way you can donate via your cell phone and/or receive periodic updates on our programs, the sloop Clearwater or volunteer. In essence, we’re looking to our roots to help us keep growing.
