Our Build-a-Song project produced a beautiful anthem!
The Power of Song Apprentices – both the older group and the Saugerties elementary school group – performed the song at the Great Hudson River Revival 2015!
We will post a recording as soon as it is available.

Don’t Walk Away
We’ve got a problem on our hands
All our soft land turning into sand
We need your help and we need it now
We can make a change
We can figure it out
Chorus:
Don’t walk away, ‘cause that’s the problem,
It’ll be too late – when we hit rock bottom.
It’s a long long road, road, road – and a heavy load.
We plowed the land with confidence
We planted seeds of change
But we watered them with poisons
And created something strange
We push the poison to the sky
And hide it in the ground
But we live inside a circle
So it comes right back around
We wrap ourselves in comfort
We fall into the traps
Of the scientists who bend the truth
Until it finally snaps
And when it does
If we deny what cannot be denied
There’ll be changes upon changes
And nowhere left to hide
Chorus:
Don’t walk away, ‘cause that’s the problem,
It’ll be too late – when we hit rock bottom.
It’s a long long road, road, road – and a heavy load.
Factory emissions never casualty admission
now the wrath of these has risen as we casually have stricken
with our planet bleeding limping, oh so atrophied a symptom
of collapse that we envision if we cannot ease the fission
with the cancer breeding in us, death and damage mean divisions
oh so callously inflicted let’s just balance these and pick up
seeing fallacies and fix’em burning calories not fossil fuels,
we can handle these, it’s possible, let’s go hand in hand across the world
and share the land that we fought’em for
and we can hand in hand make progress more,
we might just be animals and omnivores
but we can handle these with honor forth
and sons and daughters upon’t restored
can prance through leaves that our gardens bore,
plant your seeds in a pot of soil
and watch us grow without a thought for oil!
Chorus:
Don’t walk away, ‘cause that’s the problem,
It’ll be too late – when we hit rock bottom.
It’s a long long road, road, road – and a heavy load.

Yes, the power of a song
Can resonate and roar
We’ve seen it happen right here
Upon this very shore.
So let us gather here
And make our chorus strong
And we will be the instrument
Of the change that is to come.
Time is running out
This is our wake-up call
Fire, floods, storms and droughts
We no longer can forestall
Signs are all around us
The writing’s on the wall
As Mother Nature tries to warn us
Once and for all
Of impending changes
That will be beyond repair
So let us sing together
To the sky and through the air
When people raise their voices
It can resonate and ring
We all here can testify
To the power song can bring.
Chorus:
Don’t walk away, ‘cause that’s the problem,
It’ll be too late – when we hit rock bottom.
It’s a long long road, road, road – and a heavy load.
