Creek Week takes place July 13-20 in Poughkeepsie with free events offered to the community. The week-long event aims to raise awareness about local tributaries, waterways and creeks, as well as the Mighty Hudson River.

  • Kick Off Rain Barrel Building Workshop

     Mid Hudson Children’s Museum Pavillion 75 N Water St Poughkeepsie, NY … Offerred in partnership with Mid Hudson Children’s Museum and Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County,  this hands-on workshop, we will provide a 55-gallon food-grade plastic barrel and all the materials you need to build your own! There is a $45 fee and spaces are limited – please RSVP by contacting Angela Sullivan at acs26@cornell.edu or (845) 677-8223, extension 114.

 

  • Walking History Tour with Harvey Flad
    Tuesday, July 16, 6:00-7:00PM
     Meet at the Family Partnership Center, 29 North Hamilton St., Poughkeepsie, NY … Flad is a local author and historian, and author of, “Main Street to Mainframes”. Participants will walk along the Fall Kill Creek and learn about early industry, mill ponds, cholera, and the many ways the creek helped shape the City of Poughkeepsie. The event is free and participants are asked to meet in front of the Family Partnership Center, North Hamilton Street in Poughkeepsie to join the walk. The event is free to the public.

 

  • Storm Drain Marking and Litter Survey with Joe Chenier
    Thursday, July 18, 10:00 – Noon
    City of Poughkeepsie, NY … Join City of Poughkeepsie Assistant City Engineer Joe Chenier for Storm Drain Marking, Litter Survey, and Stormwater Talk for a morning of service learning, and help mark storm drains, collect litter, and learn about how the City is managing stormwater. Participants are to meet at the traffic circle at Waryas Park, Main St., Poughkeepsie. This event is free to the public.

 

  • A Night by the Fall Kill @ the Underwear Factory – An After Party to the Queen City Arts Fest

     517 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY … Clearwater, Hudson River Housing, and partners are pleased to announce that they will host a special evening of education, celebration, music, food, and fun on the banks of the Fall Kill at the site of the historic Poughkeepsie Underwear Factory. This event is free to the public.
