Bill Nechamen from New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) will speak on recent floodplain remapping and related local municipal regulations; Ira Stern on the operation of New York City Department of Environmental Protection’s Water Supply Reservoirs; Jason Shea of the US Army Corps of Engineers on their Reconnaissance Studies of the Rondout/Wallkill and Esopus/Plattekill Creeks; and Joe Damrath of NYC DEP on the value of wetlands and riparian buffers in flood mitigation; followed by Q & A panel. Free and open to all. Local officials and people who live or have a business near a creek or stream or in a floodplain are strongly encouraged to attend.
