David Bernz is a musician, an activist, an attorney and a music producer depending on which day you catch him. Having grown up in Croton-on-Hudson, NY next-door to Lee Hays of the Weavers, David quickly understood the connection between music and politics and the importance of figures such as Pete Seeger in our culture.
David has been working with Clearwater in various capacities since the age of eight, when he helped clean up after one of Clearwater’s first sloop fundraising concerts in Garrison, NY. David also helped found the Walkabout Clearwater Coffeehouse and Riverlovers, a Clearwater-chartered sloop club in the Croton-Ossining area. His musical endeavors include stints with the Hudson River Sloop Singers and the Walkabout Clearwater Chorus and with his own groups Stone Soup, the Dave Perry Rande trio and most recently, Work o’ the Weavers, a celebration of America’s pioneering folk quartet. David co-produced albums for each of his performance groups and most recently produced Pete Seeger’s “Pete Seeger at 89” due to be released in September 2008.
Now, working with Dan Einbender, as “Double D Productions” he’s hoping to spread the message that has guided him for much of his life to many others. |
