Julie Flicker Shope writes about environmental topics from her home in New York’s Hudson Valley. She grew up in New York City and attended its highly acclaimed Stuyvesant High School before heading off to Brown University. Earlier in her career she worked as a writer/producer at WNET/Channel Thirteen in the on-air promotion production department. She and her husband Allan, an architect, have four children: Elizabeth, Ben, Sydney and Claire, and own Listening Rock Farm, a farm and environmental education center in Wassaic, NY.
