Special Hallowe'en Pirate Sail

<img src="http://clearwater.org/art/calicojackskullandcrossbones.jpg" alt="" style="width: 200px; height: 166px;" /> Special Hallowe’en Pirate Sail on the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater Join us for our last sail of the season on Friday, October 31 from 4-6 pm on the sloop Clearwater as she is transformed into a haunted pirate ship. Rumor has it that the ghost of Captain Kidd will appear to tell his true tale of treachery and woe. Come in costume! Cider and snacks provided. All proceeds go to support Clearwater's education programs for NYC kids. Rated PG-13 for scary stories and images. We will be sailing from, and returning to, the 79th Street Boat Basin in New York City. There’s still time to come and volunteer on the sloop for a week before the end of this year’s sailing season! We are in great need of volunteer educators for the last two weeks of October. Now is your chance to come aboard and join the Clearwater crew as we sail the Hudson during the beautiful fall season. If you’re interested call Brian Mohan at 845-454-7673, or send him an email at Brian@Clearwater.org, or simply print out the volunteer application at http://clearwater.org/pdf/volapp.pdf, fill it out and send it via email or postal service.   Enjoy the Fall Foliage from the decks of Clearwater this Columbus Day! Join us on Monday, October 13th for our only public transit sail of the season. Sail with us for a full day from Beacon as we take in the tranquil beauty of the Hudson Highlands, enjoy a delicious seasonal lunch and return to Poughkeepsie at dusk. Relax on deck while listening to the music of Matt Turk and observing (and participating in) the running of a traditional sailing vessel. The cost of this special sail is $85 for adults ($75 for members) and $30 for children aged 12 and under. This price includes morning and afternoon snacks and a full lunch. With a possible move to Beacon and the creation of the Clearwater Center for Environmental Justice and Leadership to honor the legacy of our founder, Pete Seeger, Clearwater is embarking on its most ambitious and demanding years since the building of the Sloop itself. Your participation is vital to Clearwater's success. Members play key, creative roles in fundraising, event planning, program development, financial management, public relations, project management, and serve as articulate, credible spokespersons and ambassadors for Clearwater. The all day gathering (8:30am to 5pm) at 724 Wolcott Ave (formerly University Settlement Camp) along Rt. 9D (three miles south of Beacon) will explain Clearwater's new course as elections for the nonprofit's board of directors will be held along with an outgoing board meeting in a new format where reports are not read.  Reports will be available online before the meeting; come with questions. While conducting the serious business of running an environmental nonprofit, there will also be plenty of opportunities for food, fellowship, and family fun. Breakfast, lunch and cake will be served and the day's activities will be sprinkled with music. Help is needed now with phone calls/emails, composing notes, tracking information, donations.  Mel (Maryellen) is leading the team again.  If you have time, we have big or little tasks before, after, and that day.  Call to RSVP and speak with Adrienne to volunteer.
