Indian Point relicensing review at critical stage -- Clearwater brings Environmental Justice to nuclear license reviews for the first time

 

In July, Clearwater broke new ground when the Atomic Safety Licensing Board accepted our Environmental Justice (EJ) contention for a hearing -- the first EJ contention ever to be heard in a nuclear relicensing proceeding – along with our contention calling for a rigorous assessment of the radioactive leaks.

 

Now we must raise $50,000 immediately to cover legal fees.

We can no longer ignore the effects of ongoing radioactive leaks, forego alternatives such as energy efficiency and renewable energy, and overlook the impacts of the Indian Point relicensing on Environmental Justice populations in our region.

 

This is a 20-year relicensing application.  Once this process is complete we won’t get another chance for two decades!  We must ensure a thorough assessment of Environmental Justice issues and the ongoing leaks at Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant is done now and we need your help.
